in oakland, i'm da lin, cbs 5. >> thank you. >>> an 11-year-old daly city boy is dead after a police chase in pasadena. joe vazquez on the accident and neighbors who are devastated by the news. joe. >> reporter: the victim, allen, is 11-year-old kendrick ing here with his family on 89th street in daly city. they are presumed still to be in southern california dealing with the aftermath of this horrible crash. the family was in southern california in pasadena on christmas day visiting relatives. as they were riding in a minivan police were chasing a suspect in an suv through the streets. the chase went a mile and less than a minute then the suspect vehicle failed to stop for a red light and smashed into the minivan. two cousins were killed including an 11-year-old in daly city. three others were badly hurt. [ crying ] >> the dad and the boy always traveled together and see them together all the time. the father was always the one taking them to school... >>> you're watching cbs 5 eyewitness news in high definition. >>> a dangerous game of cops and cobbers in the east bay. burglars find themselves face- to-face with a homeowner who wears a badge. good evening. i'm elizabeth cook. >> and i'm allen martin. new at 11, an antioch police officer arrives home to find he's become the victim of a crime. three burglars caught in the act of stealing his guns. cbs 5 reporter christin ayers on what happened next. >> reporter: antioch police say burglaries in this area have become so widespread and so brazen that even cops have become targets. >> folks are the victims of burglars. >> reporter: most recently last night. three burglars were ransacking a police officer's home, when the officer came home. >> interrupted the burglary and three subjects fled out the back of the home. >> reporter: making off with two of the officer's guns. the offer chased them but was forced to stop when one of the suspects pulled aut the officer's stolen gun and fired a warning shot. this is not the first time this has happened. police say it does not appear

years old and there's a big celebration designed to benefit every rider for the next 24 hours. cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran is in the city to give us a little history lesson and tell us what is in store for all the folks that jump on board today. cate, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, frank. it's nice that it's muni's birthday and they're offering a present to the public. we're actually at geary and market, where the first muni line started 100 years ago and it ran from here downtown all the way to 33rd avenue. now, today the transit group serves 200 million passengers a year. muni has a network of 63 bus routes, a historic light rail system, streetcars and three cable car lines. now, before muni's existence, the city's public transit involved horse-drawn buggies. to celebrate the 100th birthday all of muni services including the cable cars will be free until 5 a.m. tomorrow. originally muni was going to charge riders five-cent fares because that was the fare 100 years ago but, no, they are going to give it to you for free today, which is nice. this isn't last time they will
